Peggy (Cravens) McLarty, 65, of Litchfield, died on Friday, Jan. 21, 2022, at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Jan. 29, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 12 p.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at a later date.
Mrs. McLarty was born Sept. 30, 1956, in Carlinville, to William H. and Edna (Thornton) Cravens. She married Edwin “Ed” McLarty on May 5, 1972, and he preceded her in death on Dec. 15, 2017.
During her career, she worked as a nurse’s aide at Berry Care Center in Litchfield for 12 years. She also worked at Echlin Brake Parts.
Mrs. McLarty was of the Baptist faith.
She is survived by her son, Edwin (Tina) McLarty of Litchfield; daughter, Rachel (Robert) Townsend of Litchfield; grandchildren, Heavanah, Brennen and Melody McLarty, Kaitlyn, Robert and Blake Townsend; and two stepgrandchildren, Blade and Ashley Hudgens.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. McLarty was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Elmer, Ed, Earl David, Roy and Sam Cravens; two sisters, Helen and Lilly Cravens; niece, Bernice Smith; and great-nephew, Master Sergeant William Crays.
