Pearl Lorrine (Daley) Laird, 101, of Litchfield, died Sunday, July 28, 2024, at HSHS St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.
Funeral services will be Friday, Aug. 2, at 12 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro with burial to follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield. A visitation will take place before the service starting at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home.
Mrs. Laird was born Feb. 15, 1923, in Gillespie to John Charles and Marie Elizabeth (Bassett) Daley. She married George A. Small Jr. and then later Harry Laird. Both preceded her in death.
She worked as a nurse’s aide at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield and was a member of the First Baptist Church in Litchfield.
Mrs. Laird is survived by her children, Carolyn (David) Hankins of Litchfield, George A. “Buddy” (Rosalie) Small of Litchfield, Roy Lee (Debbie) Small of Mt. Zion and Linda Marie (companion Marvin Fenton) Gorman of Litchfield; nine grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and nine great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, both husbands, granddaughter Sherri Long; great-granddaughter Meaghan Everett; great-grandson David Long; and siblings Raymond, Everett, Robert and Marie.
