Patricia Ann “Patty” Paden, 82, of Hillsboro, died on Sunday, March 19, 2023, at 1:20 a.m. at her residence.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 22, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral Mass will be held Thursday, March 23, beginning at 10 a.m. at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro with Father Daniel Willenborg, pastor of St. Agnes Catholic Church, officiating. Burial will follow at St. Agnes Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Paden was born Nov. 2, 1940, in Hillsboro, to C.H. “Pat” and Olive Caroline (DePaoli) Chaudoin. She married John M. Paden on June 16, 1962, at St. Agnes Catholic Church in Hillsboro, and he preceded her in death on Aug. 1, 2021.
She graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1958 and attended one year of college. She became a farm wife who raised chickens. She had also worked at Mobley’s Drug Store and the Hillsboro Public Library for 35 years.
Mrs. Paden was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, where she was a part of the Council of Catholic Women. She was also a member of the Hillsboro Public Library Board, Daughters of the American Revolution, Meals on Wheels, Moose Club #1377, Farm Bureau and several card clubs.
She loved to read and watch birds. She especially loved spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and attending all of their activities.
Mrs. Paden is survived by her children, Tracy (husband Lonnie) Bruce and Scott (wife Stephanie) Paden, both of Hillsboro; six grandchildren, Chelsey (husband Ross) Lamm, Becca Bruce, Gianna (husband David) Weyers, Drew (wife Mariah) Paden, Nick Bruce and Drake (fiancee Makenzie Bellaver) Paden; two great-grandchildren, Kellen Lamm and Wyatt Lamm; and sister, Edith Stahlberger.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; and siblings, Mary Martha Chaudoin and George S. Chaudoin.
