Pastor Harry Carter Kirk, 75, of Fillmore, died on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2022, at his home.

Visitation will be held Sunday, Oct. 2, from 2 to 5 p.m. at Grace Fellowship Church in Fillmore. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 5 p.m. at the church with Pastor Myron Kirk officiating. Miller Funeral Home in Fillmore is assisting the family.

Pastor Kirk was born Aug. 28, 1947, in Hillsboro, to William Joseph and Janice Jean (Carter) Kirk. He married Janice L. Gibson on April 27, 1966, in Ramsey, and she survives.

He graduated from Nokomis High School in 1965 and Greenville College in 1971.

Pastor Kirk was a teacher and coach at Hillsboro Junior High School for 35 years. He was the pastor at Liberty Church in Bingham for 17-and-a-half years, where he taught Sunday School for many years. He also served as manager of the Escape Teen Center in Hillsboro.

He and his wife were foster parents for 15 years. He was the recipient of the Service to Mankind award from the Sertoma Breakfast Club in Hillsboro. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting and fishing, and especially loved his grandchildren and spending time with them.

In addition to his wife, Pastor Kirk is survived by his mother of Vandalia; son, Steve Kirk of Springfield; daughters, Kim Draper of Hillsboro, Kelli (Tim) Pryor of Ramsey and Kerry (fiance Dennis DuPage) Schreiber of Pekin; grandchildren, Dalton, Richard and Connor Kirk, Alex, Sheridan and Ethan Schreiber, Sadie and Gretta Simon, Jack and Owen Draper, T.J. (Alisha) Pryor and Tyler Pryor; great-grandchildren, Finn and Scarlett Pryor; brother, Mark (Molly) Pryor of Vandalia; brother-in-law, Dick (Jody) Gibson of Centralia; and many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father; and grandchildren, Madison Rose Schreiber and Austin Kirk.

Memorials may be directed to Liberty Church in Bingham.
