One Killed, One Injured In Farmersville Shooting

A woman from Troy was killed and a Farmersville man was critically injured in a Thanksgiving Day shooting in Farmersville on Thursday, Nov. 25.

Leslie J. Reeves, 45, of Troy, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Montgomery County Coroner’s office.  Christopher J. Smith, 48, of Farmersville, was critically injured according to the Montgomery County Sheriff’s Office, and taken to St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

According to Chief Deputy Bruce Sanford, the sheriff’s office and Montgomery County 911 received calls at 12:42 p.m. Thursday about a welfare check and a possible death at an address on Nobbie Street in Farmersville where Smith lives.  Evidence at the scene indicated that both Reeves and Smith were victims of a shooting inside the residence.

A person of interest has been identified, and the incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office, coroner’s office, and Illinois State Police, according to Sanford.
