Norma Louise Converse, 86, of Hager City, WI, died on Friday, June 4, 2021, at Mayo Clinic Red Wing Health System in Red Wing, MN.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, June 9, from 4:30 to 8 p.m. at Mahn Family Funeral Home in the Bodelson-Mahn Chapel in Red Wing, MN. An additional visitation will be held Thursday, June 10, from 10 to 11 a.m. at Svea Lutheran Church in Hager City, WI. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. Dean Lundgren officiating. 

Mrs. Converse was born Dec. 2, 1934, in Pana, to Edward and Elsie (Eggersmeir) Johnson. She married Bob Converse on Jan. 11, 1958, and he survives.

She and her husband eventually settled in Hager City, WI.

During her career, Mrs. Converse was a licensed registered nurse and spent many years as a nurse supervisor at St. John’s Hospital in Red Wing, MN. She was a very caring person for every patient and person she made contact with.

She loved and cared for her family with great passion. Her greatest joys in life were caring for people, her family, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She loved basketball, horse racing and traveling with her husband of 63 years all over the U.S., especially Alaska and Hawaii. 

Mrs. Converse will be gravely missed by all. 

In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Wesley (Lillian) Converse of Red Wing, MN, Kevin Converse of Hager City, WI, and Brian (Diane) Converse of Geneseo; stepson, Norman (Cathy) Converse of Black River Falls, WI; stepdaughter, Mary (Orin) Pengra of Eau Claire, WI; sisters, Leola (John) Palko of Springfield and Erma McKinnie of Morrisonville; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Converse was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Vernita (Chester) Fesser, Helen (Melvin) Bruntjen, Alvin (Normadine) Johnson, Emma (John) Keiser, Esther (Jack) Osterholdt, Dwight and Amos Johnson; and stepson, David Converse.
