Norma Joan Wedekind, 91, of Raymond, died on Friday, March 10, 2023, at 9:51 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.
Visitation will be held Saturday, March 25, from 10 to 11 a.m. at A Community of Faith Church in Raymond. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church. Burial will be held at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond. Hough Funeral Home in Raymond is assisting the family.
Mrs. Wedekind was born April 27, 1931, in Clinton, to Claude and Louise (Carter) Thorp. She married Gerald Lawrence Wedekind on Sept. 9, 1951, in Clinton, and he preceded her in death on Sept. 19, 2017.
She was a homemaker and farmwife, and with her family, raised grain and livestock.
Mrs. Wedekind belonged to A Community of Faith Church in Raymond, was a member of the Raymond-Harvel Kiwanis, and enjoyed square dancing with the Calico Twirlers.
She is survived by her children, Rodney (Gay Davidson) Wedekind of The Villages, FL, Wayne (Rebecca) Wedekind of Butler, Jerry (Kassie Elliot) Wedekind and Jon Wedekind, both of Hotchkiss, CO, Wesley Wedekind of West Frankfort, Karen (Jeff Higbie) Wedekind of St. Peters, MO, and Larry Wedekind of Raymond; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and a sister, Ruth Lutz of Dewey.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Wedekind was preceded in death by her parents; grandson, Andrew Wedekind; daughter-in-law, Wanda Wedekind; brother, Ernest Thorp; and sisters, Andrea Miller and Sarah Jackson.
