Nelson L. Huffman, 91, of McClure, died Monday, July 13, 2020, at his home.
Funeral services were held Thursday, July 16, at Ford and Sons Mount Auburn Chapel in Cape Girardeau, MO, with the Rev. Jim Null officiating. Full military rites were accorded. Burial will be held in Lindsey Cemetery in McClure.
Mr. Huffman was born Sept. 27, 1928, in Bollinger County, MO, to Chalmer and Opal (Jauch) Huffman. He married Melba Null on June 8, 1956, at Arbor, MO, and she survives.
He served in the United States Army. He loved to spend time with his kids, grandkids and great-grandkids. An ordained deacon, he was a fine Christian man. He taught Sunday school for many years. A member of the First General Baptist Church of Cape Girardeau, MO, he loved to fish and work in the garden.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Carol (James) Tabor of McClure and Mary (Steve) Burchyett of Taylorsville, KY, formerly of Hillsboro; son, Stephen (Daphene) Huffman of Thebes; sister, Carolyn Woodfin of Marble Hill, MO; and seven grandchildren, Danielle (Jamie) Shepard, Sarah (Matt) Cowan, Chris Smiddy, Jonathan (Sheila) Huffman, Joshua (Erica) Huffman, Joel (Kelsey) Huffman and Jonah Huffman; and eight great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin Huffman; and one sister, Evelyn Huffman.
