Monica C. McDonald, 61, of Fillmore, died on Friday, Nov. 11, 2022, at 7:23 p.m. at her home, surrounded by her family.
Visitation will be held Saturday, Nov. 19, from 9 to 11 a.m. at St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis. Mass of Christian Burial will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with Father Michael Meinhart officiating. Rosary will be recited at 8:30 a.m. Burial will be held at Calvary Cemetery in Nokomis, where she will be buried next to her husband. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.
Mrs. McDonald was born Aug. 4, 1961, in Pana, to Bernard Lawrence and Dorothy (Berns) Marley. She married David Wayne McDonald on Dec. 29, 1990, in Nokomis, and he preceded her in death on Feb. 22, 2020.
She graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1979. She was a lifelong member of St. Louis Catholic Church in Nokomis.
Mrs. McDonald enjoyed being the life of the party and always had a joke to share to make everyone laugh. She enjoyed cooking for others and being with her family. Most of all, she loved her children and grandchildren.
She is survived by her children, B. Jeremiah (Laura) Marley and Lucia (Shane) Slightom, both of Ramsey, Lydia McDonald of Pana, Lauren McDonald of Litchfield and D. Jacob McDonald of Fillmore; grandchildren, Dominic, Colby, Weston, Otto, Charlotte and B. Oliver; and siblings, Anne Marty, Dennis Marley, David Marley, Rebecca Miller, Paul Marley and Gerald Marley.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. McDonald was preceded in death by her parents; and brothers, B. Michael Marley and J. Thomas Marley.
