Minda S. (Rufus) Hoffman, 62, formerly of Irving, died on April 16, 2025.
A Funeral Mass was held at the Mission Basilica San Juan-Capistrano on Saturday, May 31. There will be an inurnment gravesite burial service at the Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Baptism of Christ North Side Columbarium in Cincinnati, OH, on Thursday, June 12.
Mrs. Hoffman was born on Feb. 2, 1963. She and her brother, James “Michael” Rufus-Gates, were raised in Irving, by their mother, Donna Rufus.
Mrs. Hoffman graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1981, and from SIU-Carbondale in 1985, majoring in computer science. Upon entering the workforce, while still living in the Hillsboro area, she commuted to Springfield to work in the information technology department of Franklin Life. After a time, she grew restless with small town living and decided to take her IT skills to the West Coast. For nearly 40 years, she enjoyed successful employment as an independent IT contractor and a business analyst for several companies in the Los Angeles, CA, area, often serving as project manager. Her talents and contributions were valued by Parker Hannifan, TRW Credit, Caldwell Banker Real Estate, Pacific Life, Honda and Masimo.
She met Greg Hoffman, a Cincinnati, OH, native, while living in California. They were married on Oct. 12, 1996, and settled in San Clemente, California. He survives.
Mrs. Hoffman will be remembered as an intelligent, clever, witty, fun-loving gal with a unique sense of humor and a classic giggle. She enjoyed get togethers with her California girlfriends, as well as visiting with her old friends back in Hillsboro. She also enjoyed being a homebody, simply relaxing or settling in for the evening to watch her favorite movies.
She was of the Catholic faith and had an unwavering faith in the Lord. She was a member of the Mission Basilica San Juan-Capistrano.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her half-sister, Krystal Davis; sisters-in-law; brothers-in-law; and nieces and nephews.
In addition to her mother, she was preceded in death by her father, Robert Davis; and brother.
