Michael William Winstead, 45, of Litchfield, died at 10:14 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at Springfield Memorial Hospital in Springfield.

Funeral services will begin at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 9, at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield with the Rev. Fred Kraemer, pastor of Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, offiating. Burial will follow in Elm Lawn Cemetery. Visitation will be at Plummer Funeral Home on Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 3-7 p.m. Casual attire welcomed.

Mr. Winstead was born in Litchfield on April 30, 1977, a son of William Henry and Beverly Ann (Niehaus) Winstead. He graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1995. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy, serving for four years on the USS Kitty Hawk where he held the rank of Operations Specialist 2nd Class. He also attended Lincoln Land Community College where he received an electrical certificate. 

He was employed as a maintenance supervisor for Dometic (formerly Sierra) for the past 22 years. He enjoyed NASCAR series racing, attending the sporting events in which his sons participated, yard work and mowing, genealogy and family ancestry research. He loved all things peanut butter.

He and the former Lyndsy Rae Klump were married on Oct. 25, 2003, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, and she survives.

In addition to his parents and wife, he is survived by three sons, Cale, Gavin and Keaton Winstead, all of Litchfield; two sisters, Michele (Scott) Bader of Carlinville, and Melinda (Joseph) Estrada of Hamel; several nieces and nephews; and his father-and-mother-in-law, Mike and Sandy (Schroeder) Klump of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Elmer and Mary (Stamer) Niehaus; paternal grandparents, Virgil and Mabel (Snyder) Winstead; and a sister, Melissa Ann Winstead.
