Michael Patrick Nangle, 78, of Litchfield, died on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2021, at 12:19 a.m. at Memorial Medical Center in Springfield.

Visitation will be held Thursday, Feb. 4, from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 10:30 a.m. at the funeral home. Committal service will begin at 2 p.m. at Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery in St. Louis, MO.

Mr. Nangle was born April 13, 1942, in East Chicago, IN, to Thomas Edward and Katherine (Doring) Nangle. He married Debra Lynne (Butts) Petty on Feb. 15, 1983, in Hillsboro, and she survives.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1961, and served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during Vietnam.

Mr. Nangle studied heating and cooling at Vatterott Tech School. In his earlier years, he worked for Buske Lines and Hayes Trucking in Carlinville, but most recently served as a truck driver with Hartwig Trucking.

He enjoyed going fishing, doing carpentry projects and country music.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Nangle is survived by his son, Shane P. Nangle of Litchfield; four daughters, Lora Easley of Hillsboro, Amanda Nangle of Springfield, Kim Petty Black of Nokomis and Kristi (partner Jodi) Petty of Collinsville; five grandchildren, David Baker, Summer Hill, Nicole Baker, Jeremy Black and Jasmine Nangle; and two great-grandchildren, Caden and Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his parents; stepmother who raised him, Martha (Acheson) Nangle; daughter, Capt. Amy Brown, USAF; and brother, Thomas C. Nangle.
