Michael E. Goodman, 72, of Walshville, died Saturday, April 3, 2021, at 12:08 p.m. at his residence.

Cremation rites were accorded and no services are to be held at this time. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family. 

Mr. Goodman was born Oct. 17, 1948, in Tennessee, the son of the late Elvin and Ruth E. (Harrington) Goodman. He married Sandra J. Cowan on Dec. 27, 1972, in Granite City, and she survives.

A graduate of Granite City High School, he was a police officer for Pontoon Beach, and the owner of Mike and Sandy’s Tavern in Panama. He was a United States Marine veteran, and a member of the Donnellson Masonic Lodge #0255. During his lifetime, he lived in Pontoon Beach and Walshville.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Joseph Dickie of Granite City and Melissa Smith-Pace (husband Anthony Pace) of Greenville; five grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a brother, Anthony Goodman of Jackson, MO.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother and one sister.
