Melbourine Blackburn, 85, of Coffeen, died on Friday, Feb. 25, 2022, at 10:33 a.m. at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 1, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Harry Kirk officiating. Burial will be held at Green Hill Cemetery in Van Burensburg.

Mrs. Blackburn was born June 12, 1936, in South Fillmore Township, to Wilbert and Reva (Wilson) Bess. She married William Taylor Blackburn on July 17, 1954, at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Coffeen, and he survives in Taylor Springs, formerly Coffeen.

She graduated from Coffeen High School in 1954.

During her career, Mrs. Blackburn served as a payroll clerk at Coffeen Illinois Power Station.

She was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church in Coffeen. Throughout her life, she resided in Edwardsville and Coffeen.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Blackburn is survived by her children, Debby (husband Larry) Yeske of Irving and Bob (wife Kim) Blackburn of Chapman; four grandchildren, Taylor (wife Jessie) Blackburn, Lacy (husband Daniel) Kimbro, Cody Hodges, all of Hillsboro, and Kyle (wife Neely) Yeske of Irving; and eight great-grandchildren, Jossalyn Kimbro, Killian Kimbro, Ethan Blackburn, Liam Blackburn, Will Yeske, Alex Yeske, Sophia Blankenship and Brooklyn Fisher.

She was preceded in death by her parents; granddaughter, Dana Hodges-Denny; and sisters, Phyllis White and Bernadine “Deano” Huber.
