Mary Evelyn (Green) Hinton, 94, died on Thursday, Oct. 28. 2021, at 8:45 p.m.
Visitation is scheduled for Friday, Nov. 5 from 1 to 2 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will be held following visitation at 2 p.m. Burial will be at Waveland Cemetery in Hillsboro. The Rev. Jeff Hemken, pastor of Calvary Baptist Church of Hillsboro, will officiate.
Mrs. Hinton was born on Oct. 29, 1926 in Rockford, the daughter of Elbert R. and Mildred (McClain) Green. She married Harold Dale Hinton on Oct. 25, 1947 at Waveland Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro. He preceded her in death.
She was a graduate of Hillsboro High School and received her R.N. degree at Nurse Cadet Corporation near St. Louis, MO. She worked for several different facilities as a registered nurse, and spent the last ten years at Graham Correctional Center.
Mrs. Hinton is survived by sons Roy (wife Teri) Hinton of Evanston, David (wife Christine) Hinton of Raleigh, NC.; and daughter Shirley (husband Don) Patton of New Douglas. Nine grandchildren and six great-grandchildren also survive, as do sisters Geraldine Harms of Hillsboro, Janette Furness of Hillsboro, and Pat Pennington of Springfield.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; and sisters Magaret Fenton and Doris Traylor.
