Mary Ann Polston, 86, of Raymond, died on Nov. 4, 2024.
Funeral services were held on Friday, Nov. 8, at A Community of Faith, located at 101 Belle St. in Raymond, with burial at Asbury Cemetery in Raymond.
Mrs. Polston was born in Urbana on May 26, 1938, to Howard and Mildred (Anderson) Campbell. In 1940, her family moved to Mt. Vernon. After high school, she spent the next four years at the University of Oklahoma, from which she graduated in 1960 and was a member of the Delta Gamma sorority.
After college, she returned to Mt. Vernon, where she was married on Aug. 5, 1961, to Ronald W. Polston, a Craig and Craig Law firm member, where her father worked.
In 1965, her husband became a member of the faculty at
Indiana University School of Law in Indianapolis and she and her husband relocated to the area. They had a daughter in 1967, Anne Campbell Penrose, who resides in Dallas, TX. Anne married Christopher Penrose, and the couple gave the Polston’s two grandchildren, Mackenzie Anne Lavietes of Dallas, TX, and Christopher Graham Penrose of Brooklyn, NY. Upon retirement in 1995, they moved to Raymond, where her husband still resides.
Mrs. Polston was known for her kindness and generosity. She was an amazing mother and grandmother, as well as a pillar of the community. She was also an incredible cook and amassed a wonderful collection of recipes over the years. Mary Ann also had quite the green thumb and was always tending to her flowers, especially those in her favorite color, pink.
She was predeceased by her parents and her brother Howard Williams Campbell, of Henderson, KY.
She is survived by her husband, daughter, grandchildren, twin sisters, Carol Campbell Mitchell of McLean, VA, and Susan Campbell Weaver of Edmond, OK; and brother, David Campbell of Mt. Vernon.
Memorials may be given to either the Panhandle Educational Foundation or to A Community of Faith Church in Raymond.
