Marvin R. Heather, 90, of Moweaqua, died Friday, Sept. 25, 2020, at Moweaqua Rehab and Health Care in Moweaqua.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Sept. 29,  from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m.  in Mt. Carmel Cemetery, RFD Ramsey. A graveside service will follow at 12 p.m. in the cemetery with the Rev. Jay Huddleston officiating. Miller Funeral Home in Ramsey is assisting the family.

Mr. Heather was born Aug. 4, 1930, in Ramsey, the son of Mr. Heather and Georgia (Brown) Heather. He married Virginia Annette Moreland on Nov. 17, 1951, in Ramsey, and she preceded him in death on June 30, 2006. 

After 30 years, he retired from  Sloan Implement Company in Assumption. A U.S. Army veteran, he was nicknamed “Bull” growing up, and later, as a loving grandpa, his nickname became “Old Papa.”

He is survived by a son, Marvin Heather of Moweaqua; daughter, Darlene Scoles of Moweaqua; sister, Donna Chrisman of Vandalia; five grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his daughter, Brenda Duez, and great-great-grandson, Gabriel Bowers.
