Martha F. “Marty” Mansfield, 68, of Springfield, formerly of Chatham, died on Sunday, Feb. 5, 2023, at Lewis Memorial Christian Village after a long, tough fight with cancer.

Private family burial will be held at Camp Butler National Cemetery with military honors. The family will host a memorial gathering on Saturday, Feb. 11, from 12 p.m. until the celebration of life at 1 p.m. at Chatham Presbyterian Church, located at 1835 E. Walnut St. in Chatham. Cremation will be provided by Lincoln Land Cremation Society.

Ms.Mansfield was born on July 10, 1954, in Hillsboro, the daughter of Charles H. Mansfield and Lenora “June” (Les) Hopwood Litteral.

She was a graduate of Nokomis High School, and at age 29, she joined the United States Navy, where she served her country for four years. She later worked as a bus driver for multiple school districts, retiring from the Chatham School District after 20 years of service.

Ms. Mansfield enjoyed time with friends, family and being outdoors. She loved sports, especially high school and college basketball and professional baseball.

She is survived by her sister, Nancy Anderson; stepsiblings, Debbie (Larry) Reimer of Terre Haute, IN and Jim (Cheryl) Litteral of Australia; one niece, Megan (G.W.) Hamilton of St. Charles, MO; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and brother-in-law, Ron Anderson.
