Marilyn “Maggie” (Harder) Benz, 77, of Fishers, IN, went to be with her beloved husband Edward on Dec. 20, 2021.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, May 7, beginning at 1 p.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Farmersville with the Rev. Michael Strong officiating. Burial will follow at Rovey Cemetery in Farmersville.

Mrs. Benz was born July 19, 1944, the only child of Dudley and Dorothy (Rovey) Harder. Her grandparents were the late Fred and Dora Rovey of Farmersville.

She met the love of her life, Edward Benz, one New Year’s Eve nearly 60 years ago, and the pair instantly agreed that together, always in Christ, they would tirelessly and selflessly raise a big family. Indeed they did, sharing six children, 12 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

A lifetime of words could not begin to describe the impact she had on the world around her. She would describe herself as a child of Christ, and that she surely was.

Mrs. Benz will be remembered most as a teacher–her family’s teacher–who generously lighted the way for others. Once while explaining the works of Picasso to one of her children, she quoted the artist, “The meaning of life is to find your gift; the purpose of life then is to give it away.”

She found her gifts and relentlessly shared them with the world. She will be missed dearly.
