Madeline J. “Midge” Holland, 78, of Mt. Olive, died on Wednesday, Feb. 22, 2023, at Alhambra Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

No services are scheduled at this time. Dauderman Mortuary in Alhambra is assisting the family.

Ms. Holland was born April 8, 1944, in Havana, to John and Lawanda Marybelle (Thrower) Hobbs.

She and her family lived in Murphysboro, Jacksonville and Petersburg for a number of years before moving to Mt. Olive in 1976, where they resided for 18 years. She was in a care facility in Alhambra for the past six years.

Ms. Holland was an avid reader and was a collector of bells, thimbles and Indian dolls. She was proud of her American Indian heritage. For a number of years, she was very active in the Pentecostal church.

She is survived by her children, Thomas A. (Tonya) Holland of Mt. Olive, Stephen M. Holland of Chicago and Lynn M. Holland of Aviston; grandchildren, Richie R. Holland of Litchfield, Ashleigh L. (Jon) Buzick and Paigelyn K. (significant other Matthew Bowman) Holland, both of Mt. Olive; great-grandchildren, Heidi Buzick, Emily Buzick, Zeppelin R. Holland and Jason Bowman, all of Mt. Olive; and brothers, John W. (Sandy) Hobbs, Jr. of Wichita, KS, David (Heather) Hobbs of Havana and Bruce (Tara) Hobbs of Centralia.

Ms. Holland was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Jean Tribble and Carol Ann Hobbs; and brothers, Jerry Hobbs, Clarence Hobbs and James W. Hobbs.
