Lynn P. Keepper, 70, of Hillsboro, died at 7:24 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 2, 2022, at his residence.

Graveside Services were held on Saturday, Aug. 6, at Ware’s Grove Cemetery in rural Butler, with the Rev. Stefan Munker, pastor of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro, officiating.  A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, Aug. 27, from 2 to 4 p.m. at The Event Center of Montgomery County in Taylor Springs. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home of Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.

Mr. Keepper was born on Jan. 7, 1952, in Hillsboro, to Howard W. and Ruth LaVerne (Short) Keepper. He married Paula Ishmael on May 26, 1979, at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Hillsboro.

Mr. Keepper was a Hillsboro High School Graduate, Class of 1970. He attended Eastern Illinois University for one year, then graduated from Southern Illinois University Carbondale with a major in zoology and a minor in chemistry. Mr. Keepper went on to become a chemistry supervisor at the Coffeen Illinois Power Station and later worked for Ameren. He enjoyed playing golf, bowling and coaching his kid’s youth sporting teams.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Keepper is also survived by his children, Byran (wife Jessica) Keepper of Hillsboro and Andrea (husband Chuck) Durbin of Butler; three grandchildren, Skylar Durbin, Conner Durbin and Sharayah Keepper; and sister, Kay Neely of Hillsboro.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Kent Keepper; and brother-in-law, Michael “Mick” Neely.
