Lois J. Kesinger, 95, of Hillsboro, died on Friday, Jan. 15, 2021, at 9:44 a.m. at Hillsboro Rehabilitation and Health Care Center.

Graveside services will be conducted Monday, Feb. 1, beginning at 1 p.m. at Cress Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro with the Rev. Matt Ferguson, pastor of First Presbyterian Church in Hillsboro, officiating. Family and friends may gather at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro at 12:30 p.m. to proceed to the cemetery. Guidelines set forth by the CDC will be adhered, including social distancing and masks.

Mrs. Kesinger was born on June 17, 1925, in Altamont, to Ruby Darold and Ruth Margaret (Wise) Wagener. She married Frank Monroe, and they later divorced. She then married Gene Kesinger on Nov. 15, 1971, in Colorado, and he preceded her in death in August 1991.

When her mother died in 1940, she moved to Pleasant Mound to live with relatives Vallie and Ruth Cripe. She attended Greenville High School, and lived in the Greenville area until she moved to Hillsboro in 1954.

Mrs. Kesinger was a homemaker. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church in Greenville and Hillsboro, where she served as deacon of the church.

She is survived by her daughter, Deborah (husband Rodney) King of Niantic; grandchildren, Melissa (husband Scott Slaughter) King and Melody (husband Andy) Cowley, both of Clinton; and seven great-grandchildren, Cody, John, Mason, Colton, Orion, Archer and Emmeline.

In addition to her husband, Mrs. Kesinger was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Rebecca Prehoda; two brothers; and one sister.
