As the weather gets cooler, the races in the Fly Racing Showdown Series at Lincoln Trail Motosports in Casey get fewer and fewer for the 2021 season.

The motocross series is down to its last three races, which will be held Oct. 16, 17 and 31 in Casey.

The series has kept several local riders busy on the weekend, with competitions in Casey, plus one in Crawfordsville, IN, at the vaunted Ironman Raceway on Aug. 29.

In the 50cc division at Ironman, Hillsboro’s Holden Wright scored a ninth place finish in the junior class, while two more Hillsoro racers, Huntley Durbin and Silas Randall, were 11th and 12th. Wright also finished sixth in the pee wee class, with Litchfield’s Grayson Short finishing 11th, while Durbin finished seventh in Mini-E, with Short finishing 10th.

In the 65cc division, Camron Bone of Litchfield and Hudson Wright of Hillsboro both raced in the junior and open classes. Bone was eighth in the junior in and 32nd in the open, while Wright was 13th in the junior and 27th in the open. Morrisonville’s Lana Harrison also raced on the girls’ side, coming in seventh.

Five other county racers also competed in Crawfordsville, three of which were in the 30+ A class. Chris Short of Litchfield and Adam Wright of Hillsboro were seventh and ninth respectively, while Derek Birkenkamp was just behind Wright in 10th.

Taylor Springs’ Trenton Kimbro finished 11th overall in the Super Mini class, while Ryan Petroski was 20th in Open C.
