Linda Ruth Budd, 68, of Litchfield, died on Saturday, May 14, 2022, at 4:07 a.m. at her residence.
Visitation will be held Thursday, May 19, from 4 to 7 p.m. at Litchfield Family Funeral Service. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 20, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Rudy Elam officiating. Burial will follow at Elm Lawn Cemetery in Litchfield.
Mrs. Budd was born July 17, 1953, in Litchfield, to Harold Eugene and Irene (Clark) Hampton. She married George Wayne Budd on May 22, 1976, at the Litchfield Free Methodist Church, and he survives. They were preparing to celebrate their upcoming 46th wedding anniversary.
She graduated from Litchfield High School with the class of 1971. During her career, she served as a telephone operator, working the switch boards in Mattoon, for Consolidated Telephone Company. Later, within the same company, she became a sales representative. She retired in 2007.
Mrs. Budd loved to garden and take care of her lawn, almost as much as she loved her family, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed cooking for others and being the first to lend a helping hand. She was generous, kind and talkative. She never met a stranger, a trait being passed down to her granddaughter.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her sons, Brian (Sheila) Budd and Jeffrey (April) Budd, both of Litchfield; grandchildren, Sydney, Jacob, Kylie, Connor and Landon; brothers, Harold “Jr.” Hampton, Maynard “Butch” Hampton, Richard Hampton and Bill Hampton; and sister, Janet Stockamp.
Mrs. Budd was preceded in death by her parents; and four sisters, Mildred Jackson, Dorothy Wilson, Betty Davee and Marion Brown.
