Linda Lou Wendel, 74, of Litchfield, died on Tuesday, March 31, 2020, at 3:34 p.m. at Barnes-Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, MO.

A memorial service/Celebration of Life will be held at a later date. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is assisting the family.

Mrs. Wendel was born Oct. 23, 1945, in Witt, to Frank Anton and Emma Jane (Briggs) Martincic. She married Richard Wayne Wendel on June 13, 1967, at Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield, and he survives.

During her career, she worked in housekeeping at St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield and retired after 41 years of service.

Mrs. Wendel was a member of the Crabtree Cemetery Association Board. She also helped her husband mow grass for their family business, R&L Mowing. She enjoyed reading and doing crossword puzzles, knitting, gardening, going camping and cooking for her family.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three daughters, Tammy Sue Odle, Patricia Ann (Charles) Jarman, both of Litchfield, and Billie Jo (Craig) Walch of Raymond; one brother, Marty (Sandy) Martincic of Hillsboro; sisters, Connie (Herschel “Herc”) DeWitt of Butler and Brenda Martin of Witt; 11 grandchildren, Ashley Goth, Amber Bourke, Craig Walch Jr., Richard Wendell III, Ashley Davis, Kate Walch, Courtney Wendel, Kari (Tony) Dragoo, Gary Cadnus, Addie Walch and Megan Jarman; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Wendel was preceded in death by her son, Richard W. Wendel, Jr.; brother, Verlyn Martincic; and sister, Judy Waugh.

Memorials may be directed to the Crabtree Cemetery Association.
