Four games into the 2021 season and the Lincolnwood-Morrisonville volleyball team hasn’t lost a set, let alone a game.
The Lancers’ latest conquest came at the expense of the Ramsey Rams, who hosted Lincolnwood on Sept. 7. The Lancers won a close one in game one, 25-19, but used that momentum to their advantage in game two with a 25-9 victory.
With 16 aces between six players, the Lincolnwood serving game was on point. Tessa Funderburk was one of three players with four aces and had a team high 10 points, while Avery Pope and Sidney Glick also had four aces and six points.
Haelee Damm (3 points, 2 aces), Hailee Belsher (3 points, 1 ace) and Justine Seelbach (4 points, 1 ace) also contributed to the serving effort.
On the attack, Avery Pope dished out 16 assists, with Belsher (7), Funderburk (5), Damm (4), Glick (3) and Jazmin Seaton-Hobson (1) knocking down kills.
Defensively, Madyson Bockewitz led the team with six digs, followed by Belsher with five, Glick and Damm with four each, Pope with two and Funderburk with one.
The Lancers and Rams will meet up again on Friday, Sept. 10, in the opening game of the 2021 Montgomery County Invitational Tournament.
The Lancers and Rams play the 4:45 game at the Lincolnwood High School gym in the Beat INAD Pool. Lincolnwood also plays St. Elmo-Brownstown at 6:45 p.m. and Greenview at 8:45 p.m.
Bracket play for the 16-team tournament starts at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 11, with the medal round going off at 1 and 2 p.m. More information can be found at montgomerycountyinvitational.weebly.com.
