Lincolnwood Knocks Off Cavaliers In Two Games

The Lincolnwood-Morrisonville volleyball team halted their losing streak at just one game as they bounced back with a win over Carlinville on Monday, Sept. 13, on the Cavies’ home floor.

The Lancers, who fell to Staunton in the championship of the Montgomery County Invitational, held off a tough Carlinville squad 25-21, 25-23.

With 30 kills on the night, the Lincolnwood hitters were on point, with Hailee Belsher posting a game-best 15 kills. Jazmin Seaton-Hobson added in seven kills, while Haelee Damm put down five. Desi Pitchford and Sidney Glick rounded out the hit parade with two and one kills, while Tessa Funderburk (14) and Avery Pope (7) led the team in assists.

On the service line, Lincolnwood was balanced, with six players serving up at least two points each. Madyson Bockewitz led that group with six points and two aces, followed by Pitchford with four, Glick and Belsher with three and Pope and Damm with two. Damm also had an ace in the win.

Defensively, Belsher had three blocks and three digs, while Bockewitz led the team in digs with seven. Glick and Damm both had five digs apiece, with Pitchford joining Belsher with three digs.

Now 9-1 on the season, Lincolnwood will have a key MSM Conference match-up against South County on Thursday, Sept. 16, in Franklin.

After that, the Lancers will play in the New Berlin Tournament on Friday, Sept. 17, with games at 6:30 (West Central), 8:30 (Athens) and 9:30 p.m. (Deland-Weldon). The tournament continues with crossover play between the pools on Saturday, Sept. 18.
