Lincolnwood Boys Sweep Home Meet

The Lincolnwood boys golf team avenged one of their few losses of the season recently as they knocked off Carlinville, Carrollton and Shelbyville at Shoal Creek Golf Course in Raymond on Sept. 2.

The Lancers had fallen to the Cavaliers and Auburn on the same course on Aug. 23, but were minus Will Jenkins and Levi Weir for the match.

The pair would be back for Thursday’s match and accounted for two of the scoring rounds for Lincolnwood. Jenkins would finish third overall with a 5-over-par 41, while Weir added in a 46.

The Lancers were led by Nate Brockmeyer, who finished with a 3-over-par 39, one stroke behind medalist Henry Kufa of Carlinville.

Colton Tischkau added in the fourth scoring round with a 47, while Brady Schmedeke narrowly missed the top four with a 48. Lance Weitekamp rounded out the varsity lineup on Thursday with a 57.

Lincolnwood also had four players shooting JV rounds, with just four strokes separating them. Drake Germann and Jared Klein matched Weitekamp with a pair of 57s, while Jonah Elvidge finished with a 58. Drew Gilpin finished just three strokes behind Elvidge, shooting a 51 to give the JV squad a 233 for the match.

The Lancers will be back on the road on Tuesday, Sept. 7, when they play Lanphier and Rochester at Lincoln Greens Golf Course in Springfield.
