Lila E. Irvine, 95, a long-time resident of Litchfield, died on Monday, March 3, 2025, at Carle Health Methodist Hospital in Peoria.
Funeral services will be held at Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield on Saturday, March 15, with visitation beginning at 10 a.m. and service to follow at 11 a.m. Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield is in charge of arrangements.
Mrs. Irvine was born on Jan. 3, 1930, to Henry and Freida (Simmering) Schroeder. She graduated from Litchfield High School in 1948 and married Melvin Lee Irvine on June 4, 1950. In 1952, they started Irvine Studio in Litchfield, taking wedding photographs and portraits of thousands of customers until it closed in 2001.
Mrs. Irvine also worked as a licensed insurance agent at Graham and Stolle and later obtained her real estate license, working for several Litchfield businesses. She ended her working career as a receptionist for Litchfield Health Care until her retirement.
Mrs. Irvine volunteered at the Route 66 Museum and the Litchfield Food Pantry. She was a lifetime member and volunteer of Mt. Zion Lutheran Church in Litchfield. She was an avid dog lover and always adopted her beloved pets from the local shelter.
Mrs. Irvine was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents, Henry and Freida Schroeder; and three siblings, Carl (Lorraine) Schroeder, Alta Schroeder and Lois (Albert) McCarthy.
She is survived by her daughters, Linda (Bernard) Piercy and Nancy (Dennis) Freeze; grandchildren, Douglas Piercy and Renee (Charles) Ledford; great-grandchildren, Payton (Carter) Pearson and Jayden Ledford; and great-great-grandson, Lincoln Pearson.
