Library Says Thanks For Help Funding Our Share

Friends and residents of the Hillsboro Area Public Library District–at last!

It has been a long wait, but the hopes and dreams regarding the future of the Hillsboro Area Public Library are now beginning to come to fruition.  A remodeled building at 420 South Main Street is now certain.

There were many ups and downs along the way: changes in leadership, purchasing what will become a more accessible building, finding an architect, becoming a library district that serves more of our area, and raising funds through our fundraising committee and our newly formed Friends of the Library group.

The grant process was daunting (Insert COVID-19 and the delays created!), but we had a great team who spent many weeks preparing and reviewing their work so everything was exactly as required.

This is where a special thank you is in order. As part of the grant we had to demonstrate that we had our share of the project funding “in the bank.” For the past three years there have been many members of our library community along with local businesses and out of town donors who have given generously of their time, talents, and monetary gifts to make sure that the funding was there. Without this help we would not have our required share for the project. We will continue our fundraising efforts so we can also add the basement to our available workspace.

What a wonderful group effort! Our hearts are full! Now we forge ahead!
