Leslie Jett, 86

Leslie Lewis Jett, 86, of Litchfield, died on Tuesday, Jan. 11, 2022, at 12:55 p.m. at HSHS St. Francis Hospital in Litchfield. 

Visitation will be held on Monday, Jan. 17, from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at Plummer Funeral Home in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow at 1 p.m., with his grandson, Leroy Jett, presiding over the service. Burial will be in King Cemetery in rural Irving.

Mr. Jett was born Nov. 13, 1935, in Litchfield, the youngest of 11 children to John Martin and Cleo Marie (Taylor) Jett. He married his childhood sweetheart, Ginger Ann Logsdon on March 13, 1954, and she survives in Litchfield.

With only a fifth-grade education, he learned the skill of carpentry which led to a career as a laborer and later a foreman employed by the Local 1084. Mr. Jett built homes in the Litchfield area, several of them being built especially for various family members. He was also a farmer, cared for animals, loved fishing and coon hunting. He enjoyed spending time with his family and friends during hayrides, cookouts or visits, and he will be especially remembered for his storytelling. 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Jerry Jett of Litchfield, a daughter, Opal Jett of Litchfield, grandchildren,  Angie (Kyle) Johnson, Leroy (Candace) Jett, Jerry Jett II, Goldie (Eddie) Mantor, LaWanda Jett (companion Trinidad), Benjamin Jett, Rusty (Meagan) Henry, Eric Henry, Elizabeth Jett, Dean (Tanya) Jett II, Samantha Jett, Jennifer Jett, Leslie Jett and Dakota Means, many great-grandchildren and his brother, Kenny (Phyllis) Jett of Litchfield.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, John, Tom, Bernice, Etta, Gerald, Pearl, Earl, Harold and Elsie; sons George Allen, Leroy Nelson, Dean Martin and Kevin Wayne; daughter-in-law Geri Jett and grandsons Kevin Wayne II and Wayne Allen.
