On May 23, the Grand National Cross Country Series came to Sunday Creek Raceway in Millfield, OH, for the John Penton, round seven of the off-road motorcycle racing series.
Both Walshville’s Travis Lentz and Morrisonville’s Jhak Walker would have solid showings at the race, each placing in the top five of their class.
Lentz took fourth in the 65cc (10-11) class as the Walshville racer ran six laps in a time of 1:39:13.329. Walker would place fifth in the Super Mini Senior (14-15) class, running a time of 1:33:32.214 for seven laps. Overall, Walker would finish seventh in youth bikes, while Lentz was 71st overall.
The pair also made the trek to Mathews Farm in Mount Morris, PA for the Mason-Dixon, round eight of the GNCC series. More success followed for them as they once again both finished in the top ten.
Lentz finished third in the 65cc (10-11) class, running five laps in 1:37:38.452, while Walker was seventh in Super Mini Senior (14-15) with a time of 1:39:40.579 for six laps. Overall, Walker was ninth in youth bikes, while Lentz was 56th.
After eight rounds, Lentz is second in the 65cc class, just ten points behind Caleb Wood for first, while Walker is seventh in the Super Mini Senior standings.
Round nine of the GNCC is the Snowshoe, held at Snowshoe Mountain Resort in Snowshoe, WV, on June 26-27.
