Larry Lee Guinn, 87, of Hillsboro, died Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024, at 7:59 a.m. at St. John’s Hospital in Springfield.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Dec. 7, from 10 to 11 a.m., at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorial services will follow at 11 a.m., also at the funeral home. Mark Noyes will officiate. Burial will be in Cress Hill Cemetery, in Hillsboro, with military rites at graveside.

Mr. Guinn was born on Oct. 10, 1937, in Schram City, to the late Haskell O. “Hack” and Rose Elizabeth (Ealey) Guinn. He had attended Schram City School and Hillsboro Schools and had served in the Navy. Mr. Guinn married Lois Bayliff and they later divorced. He then married Malinda A. “Lynn” Fenton, whom he had been with since 1973, and she preceded in death on Nov. 29, 2022.

Mr. Guinn had delivered groceries for his father’s distributing business, worked at Traylor’s Furniture and then worked in maintenance at Echlin until retiring. He was a member of the Hillsboro Country Club in Hillsboro, where he enjoyed golfing, as well as the Moose Club in Litchfield and was a lifelong member of the V.F.W. He loved to go fishing, watching westerns and spending time with his family. Mr. Guinn loved being with people and could talk to anyone. He lived in Schram City and Hillsboro his entire life.

Mr. Guinn is survived by his children, Steve (fiancée, Shellie West) Guinn of Nokomis and Kevin (wife, Dana) Guinn of Hillsboro, Mona (husband, Dick) Elam Jr. of Hillsboro and John (wife, Vicki) Bledsoe of Hillsboro; seventeen grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents and wife, Mr. Guinn was preceded in death by daughters, Jamie E. Joyce in 2009 and Kim L. Chambers in 2013; and brother, Robert “Bob” Guinn.

Memorials are suggested to Cress Hill Cemetery in Hillsboro.
