Larry Louis Cunningham, 80, of Alton, formerly of Gillespie, died at 10:23 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 29, 2021, at River Crossing of Alton with his family by his side.
Per Mr. Cunningham’s wishes, no services will be held. Kravanya Funeral Home of Gillespie is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Cunningham was born on May 19, 1941, in Sorento, the son to Louis and Margaret (Radae) Cunningham. He married Judith Ann (Wilson) on Oct. 14, 1961. Mr. Cunningham was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
Mr. Cunningham graduated from Gillespie High School in 1959. He retired as a supervisor from Monsanto. Mr. Cunningham was an avid car enthusiast and collector. He celebrated his 80th birthday with his family. The Cunninghams celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on October 14, 2021.
Mr. Cunningham is survived by his wife; daughter, Leigh Ann (husband Eric) McRoy; grandson,Drew McRoy of Alton (financee ErinHediger of St. Charles, MO); siblings, Joyce Bertoldi of Gillespie, Eleanor Veschak of Benld and Ronald “Timer”Cunningham of Gillespie; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, David “Dell” Cunningham; his nephew and Godson, James Taylor; and two nephews, Bill Bertoldi and MarkVeschak.
