Larry Leon Collins, 81, of Hillsboro, died at 12:35 p.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 26, 2021, at Montgomery Nursing and Rehabilitation in Taylor Springs.
Cremation rites have been accorded and remains will be buried at a later date. Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
Mr. Collins was born on June 22, 1940, in Hillsboro, to Paul and Eileen (Redding) Collins. He married Beverly Joan (Kinder) Collins on Nov. 12, 1961, at Jackson County AR, she preceded him in death in 2011.
The couple resided in Taylor Springs and Hillsboro all their adult life. They were the owners of Trails End Bar and Grill. Mr. Collins also was a deputy for Montgomery County Sheriff’s Department and a police officer for Taylor Springs.
Mr. Collins is survived by two children, Charles (wife Tracy) Collins of Hillsboro and Terri (husband Ollie) Wright of Decatur; six grandchildren, Stasia Luevano, Jacqlyn Naugle, Andrew Collins, Paige Collins, Jacob Wright and Kayla Wendt; three great-grandchildren, Pacey Collins, Samantha Weiss and Hezekiah Wright; and one sibling Betty Gurley.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents; and one sister, Colleen Gates.
