Larry Gene Sutton, 83, of Taylorville, died on Monday, Sept. 19, 2022, at 10:01 p.m. at Carriage Crossing Senior Living Center in Taylorville.

Visitation will be held Friday, Sept. 23, from 3 to 7 p.m. at Sutton Memorial Home in Taylorville. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Sept. 24, beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with Pastor Gerald McPhillips and Pastor Chad Foster co-officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery in Taylorville.

Mr. Sutton was born June 25, 1939, in Taylorville, to Raymond G. and Olleva M. (Lusk) Sutton. He married Betty Smothers on Oct. 23, 1966, in Pawnee, and she survives.

He was the owner and operator of Sutton Memorial Home and Sutton Ambulance Service in Taylorville, where he devoted over 50 years of his life to serving the people of Taylorville, Nokomis and the surrounding communities.

Mr. Sutton was a member of Taylorville Chrisian Church, the Masonic Lodge #675 A.F. and A.M. in Pawnee and the Taylorville Moose Lodge #1516.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Lori (Don) Bettis of Taylorville and Aaron (Tammy) Sutton of Springfield; grandsons, Austin (Miranda) Peters, Evan Peters and Ryan (Delanie) Peters, all of Taylorville; great-granddaughters, Colbie, Collins and Allison Peters; sisters-in-law, Virginia Sutton of Sauk City, WI, and Maria Sutton of Mesquite, TX; and several nieces, nephews and cousins.

Mr. Sutton was preceded in death by his brothers, Donald Ray Sutton, Gary Sutton and Richard Sutton in infancy; and great-granddaughter, Kinsley Peters.
