Larry E. Pierson, 83, of Hillsboro, died Monday, Feb. 15, 2021, at 6:50 p.m. at Montgomery County Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Taylor Springs.
Private visitation will be held at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Private graveside services will be held in Old Union Cemetery in Louisville with Mark Noyes officiating. COVID-19 CDC guidelines will be followed with the use of masks and social distancing.
Mr. Pierson was born March 6, 1937, on the family farm, to the late Harvey Edward and Gladys Faye (Smith) Pierson. He married Nancy Suzanne Eytchison on June 8, 1956, at Hord Congregational Church in Hord.
During his lifetime, he lived in Louisville, Decatur and Hillsboro. He was a 1955 graduate of North Clay High School in Louisville. He worked for Illinois Power for 40-plus years as a substation electrician. He was a member of Hord Congregational Christian Church in Hord and a member of IBEW Local 309 for 60 years. He loved reading, spending time in his workshop, camping and working outside.
He is survived by his children, Julie K. (husband Kelly) Marcolini and Debra D. Howard; four grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Tom Howard; and mother and father-in-law, Paul and Lois Eytchison.
