Kenneth L. Darnell, 71, of Pana, died on Friday, July 2, 2021, at Decatur Memorial Hospital.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, July 6, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will be held at Witt Cemetery with full military honors conducted by Nokomis American Legion Post 94.

Mr. Darnell was born June 3, 1950, in Pana, to Harold Lester and Wilma (Bolte) Darnell. He married Sharon Johnson, and they divorced. He then married Linda (LeDuc) White, and she preceded him in death.

During his career, he served as a correctional officer at Taylorville Correctional Center. He loved farming with his farmer friends and was also a truck driver.

Mr. Darnell was a member of the NRA and had attended Ohlman Methodist Church. He was also U.S. Navy veteran, having served during the Vietnam War era.

He is survived by his son, Jesse (Jennifer) Darnell of Witt; grandson, Caleb Darnell of Witt; brother, Roger Darnell of Witt; and sisters, Linda (Alan) Kottwitz of Nokomis, Toni (Shannon) Durbin, Brenda (Lenny) Homa and Patty (Greg) Myers, all of Witt.
