Kenneth Dale “Kenny” Monke, 72, of Arcola, died on Sunday, July 17, 2022, at 12:55 p.m. at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.

A Celebration of Life was held Saturday, Sept. 24, at the Homer and Sovilla Miller residence in rural Arthur. Edwards Funeral Home in Arcola assisted the family.

Mr. Monke was born on April 15, 1950, in Litchfield, to Lavern and Vivian (Greeling) Monke. He married Barbara Ann Weber on Aug. 27, 1993, in Missouri, and she survives.

He worked with IC/CNN Railroad for 40 years. After he retired from the railroad, he helped Gary Swisher farm and taxied Amish, making many good friends.

Mr. Monke enjoyed spending time with friends at the Hen House around the coffee table. He enjoyed motorcycling and hunting. He loved to hunt deer and geese locally, antelope in Wyoming and turkey in Missouri.

He was a friend to many and would do anything for anyone. His greatest joys in life were being able to share his time with his great-grandson, Connor, and his dog Frankie.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Monke is survived by his daughter, Nicole (husband John) Thraser of Litchfield; Grace (husband Jacob) Stockamp and Grant Thrasher; stepson, Jason Reincke; two stepgrandchildren, Connor Reincke and Macy Reincke; siblings, Rich (wife Pam) Monke, Sandy Svoboda, Bonnie Monke, Barbie (husband Aaron) Bishop and Debbie Monke; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Jerry Greeling and Ronnie Monke.
