Kenneth C. Wiseman, 97, of Nokomis, died Saturday, Dec. 18, 2021, in Taylorville.

Visitation was Wednesday, Dec. 22 from 4 to 7 at Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis. Funeral services will be Thursday, Dec. 23 at 11 a.m. at the funeral home with burial to follow at Nokomis Cemetery.

Mr. Wiseman was born Dec. 5, 1924 in Chicago, the son of Mary Arlene Clark and Louis Wiseman. He married Melba Mae Schneider Aug. 20, 1949.

He was former owner of the Nokomis Free Press-Progress newspaper and operator of the Nokomis-Witt Area Ambulance for many years. He was a member of the Nokomis United Methodist Church, Nokomis AF & AM #456 Masonic Lodge, and an Army-Air Corp veteran. He and Mrs. Wiseman spent many years at Reflections on Silver Lake in Florida where he became Florida state champion in shuffleboard in the over 90-year-old age group. He was a high school basketball referee and a baseball coach for many years.

Mr. Wiseman is survived by his wife, Melba; children Kay (husband Dennis) Plozizka, Clark, Mark and Kent Wiseman all of Nokomis; grandchildren Jennifer (husband Mike) Weiss, Jillian (husband Tim) Ulrici, Taylor Moran, Tanner (wife Erin) Wiseman, Derek Plozizka; and great-grandchildren Adriyana Moran, Everly Wiseman, Cameron Moran, Tessa Wiseman, Trevyn Wiseman, and Anastasia Plozizka.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and daughter Mary Ann Wiseman.
