Kenneth B. Meyers, 89, of Chatham,  formerly of Fillmore, died on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2025, at his residence.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, Jan. 14, at 12 p.m. at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Visitation will be held from 11 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore.

Mr. Meyers was born on Dec. 28, 1935, in Fillmore to the late John and Ethal (Bost) Meyers. He was proud to say he was a member of the last class to graduate from Fillmore High School in 1953. He married Joyce Hofmann on June 30, 1962, at Raymond Presbyterian Church and together they raised their two children, Dale and Christina.

Mr. Meyers lived in Fillmore his entire life and finally moved in town Fillmore when he was able to bring his horse with him. He retired from Hillsboro Glass Factory after approximately 30 years as a shipping foreman and he was a farmer. Mr. Meyers was very proud of his service as an Air Force veteran; during his time in the military, he served in Alaska.

Mr. Meyers was a very optimistic man with a wonderful sense of humor and a strong work ethic. He loved horses and enjoyed riding on the trails in Shawnee, Ramsey and Litchfield. He continued to ride horses until he was well into his 80’s. He loved to spend time with his children and grandchildren; especially time spent outdoors sledding in the snow or throwing rocks in the creek.

Mr. Meyers is survived by his wife, Joyce Meyers; two children, Dale (wife, Lorie) Meyers of Springfield and Christina (husband, Matthew) Jones of Chatham; six grandchildren, Tyler Jones, Jason Jones, Makenzie Jones, Rachel Meyers, Bryce Meyers and Sarah Meyers; one great-grandchild, Brooklyn Meyers; and one sister, Carol Srgo.

Memorials are suggested to St. Matthews Church in Fillmore. Condolences may be left online at www.basspattondeanfh.com.
