Karen (Larimore) Winner Shafer, 83, of Springfield, formerly of Hillsboro, died on Friday, March 4, 2022, at her residence.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, March 9, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at Hough and Sons Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 1 p.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy Sands officiating. Burial will be held at Oak Grove Cemetery in Hillsboro.
Mrs. Shafer was born Jan. 14, 1939, in Pekin, to Bert and Kathleen (Smith) Larimore. She married Jack D. Shafer in 1992, and he preceded her in death on Jan. 5, 2002.
She graduated from Petersburg Harris High School with the class of 1957. She retired from the state of Illinois as a payroll supervisor with the Illinois Department of Transportation.
Mrs. Shafer was a member of the Hillsboro Free Methodist Church.
She is survived by her children, Gary (Dawn) Winner of St. Louis, Julie (Pete) Schneider and Darryl Winner, both of Springfield; five grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; and one brother, Dean Larimore of Pekin.
In addition to her husband, Mrs. Shafer was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers; and one sister.
