Josephine Ann (Herzog) Barringer, 86, of Ramsey, died Friday, Jan. 3, 2025, at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, surrounded by her children.
A celebration of life will be held from 10 a.m. until the time of service at 12 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 18, at South Fork Church, located at 14316 E 100 North Rd. in Nokomis. Graveside services will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Barringer was born on Nov. 23,1938, on a farm in rural Montgomery County to Edward and Melinda (Reineke) Herzog. She married Virgil Wayne Barringer on April 7,1957, at South Fork Church. She was a farmer’s wife and previously worked at Nokomis Veterinary Clinic. Mrs. Barringer was a piano player, playing in church including South Fork and Fillmore. She played piano and accordion at numerous funeral services and nursing homes. She volunteered for various organizations.
Including her husband of 68 years, Mrs. Barringer is survived by children, Jerry (Linda) of Nokomis, Ken (Kim) of Rosamond and daughter, Marcia of Ramsey.; sister, Marion (Herzog) Stauder of Springfield; grandchildren, Jerry (Katie) Barringer of Normal, Charles Barringer of Nokomis, Josh (Omega) Barringer of Princeton, TX, Kenna (Alex) Henderson of Maryville, TN, Chad (Ashley) Towler of Brownstown and Travis (Jo) Towler of Plymouth, OH; great-grandchildren, Zane Henderson of Maryville, TN, Fred and Adrian Towler of Brownstown and Aubryanna Towler of Plymouth, OH.
She was preceded in death by siblings, Carroll “Dusty” Herzog, Lyla (Herzog) Darnell and Bernice (Herzog) Kessinger.
