Joseph M. Baugher, 85

Joseph McCoy Baugher, 85, of Hillsboro, died Saturday, May 30, 2020, at 12:20 a.m. at his residence.

In accordance to his wishes, there will be no services. Plummer Funeral Home and Cremation Services in Litchfield is assisting the family.

Mr. Baugher was born Sept. 29, 1934, in Irving, a son of Arthur Ewen and Thelma Georgia (Stokes) Baugher.  He married the former Mary Jane Giberson on Feb. 22, 1957, in Schram City at the home of his parents, and she survives.

A veteran of the Korean War, he served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Whiteside.  Over the years, he was employed at Consolidated Coal Co. Coffeen Mine, Eagle Pitcher and was a school bus driver for the Hillsboro Community School District #3 for several years until his retirement.

He was a member of the VFW Post 1302 in Taylor Springs. He enjoyed going hunting and fishing, as well as going to yard sales and auctions.

In addition to his wife, he is survived by two daughters, Brenda (Steve) Rappe of Winslow, IN, and Barb (Henri) Le Veque of Springfield; a sister, Marty Giberson of Shelbyville; two grandchildren, Joseph (Alicia) Rappe and Jamie (Justin) Huston; and four great-grandchildren, Jackson and Elena Rappe, and Emery and Charlotte Huston.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Arthur “Dave” Baugher and George A. Baugher; and three sisters, Vada Bandy, Wilma M. Baugher and Betty L. Funk.
