Joseph D. Summers, 42, of Witt, died on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022, at 6:55 p.m. at his residence.

Visitation will be held Tuesday, Nov. 8, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Toberman-Dean Funeral Home in Coffeen. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, Nov. 9, beginning at 10 a.m. at the funeral home with the Rev. Randy White of Irving officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Hill Cemetery in Coffeen.

Mr. Summers was born March 13, 1980, in Hillsboro, to James D. “Jim” and Donna (Jones) Summers. He married Lindy Castleman on July 19, 2014, in Hillsboro, and she survives.

He graduated from Hillsboro High School with the class of 1999 and earned his associate’s degree in farm management and chemical spraying from Lincoln Land Community College.

During his career, Mr. Summers served as a manager of the fertilizer department at M&M Services in Litchfield. He worked for the company for 20 years.

He was the Rocky Ford Park Vice President. He loved spending time with his kids and family, and enjoyed the outdoors, including hunting, fishing and side-by-side riding. Throughout his lifetime, he resided in Coffeen, Mt. Olive and Witt.

In addition to his wife, Mr. Summers is survived by his mother of Coffeen; children, Collin Osmoe Summers, Ellie Mae Summers and Easton Summers; siblings, Jim (wife Jessica) Summers of Hillsboro and Julie (husband Bill) Oller of Walshville; five nephews, Landon Summers, Nash Summers, Wyatt Kershaw, Devin Hansel and Zack Hansel; and mother-in-law, Vanessa Castleman of Mississippi.

He was preceded in death by his father in 2019; child, Paden Debardeleben; and father-in-law, Tom Castleman.
