Joseph Dale Lovell, 89, of Litchfield, died on Tuesday, May 3, 2022, at 12:50 a.m. at Heritage Health: Therapy and Senior Care in Gillespie.

Visitation will be held Saturday, May 7, from 9:30 to 11 a.m. at Faith Lutheran Church in Litchfield. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with the Rev. James Ritter officiating. Burial will be held at Elmwood Cemetery in Litchfield.

Mr. Lovell was born Dec. 13, 1932, in Roxana, to Robert and Viola (Nelson) Lovell. He married Lorene (Johnson) Heern on May 10, 1957, at Concordia Lutheran Church in Cottage Hills, and she preceded him in death on May 6, 2016.

He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean War era as a combat aid. He went on to own and operate Litchfield Seat Cover and Upholstery for over 50 years.

Mr. Lovell enjoyed being with his family, traveling, fishing, taking care of his yard and spending time in Florida with his wife during the winter months in the latter part of his life.

He was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Litchfield.

Mr. Lovell is survived by his stepson, David (Norma) Heeren of Cottage Hills; stepdaughters, Susan Marshall of Brentwood, MO, and Diane (Walter) Frazier of Glen Carbon; sisters, Mary Chapman of Osage Beach, MO, and Sue Reilly of Tucson, AZ; grandsons, Aaron (Krystle) Green of Kansas City, MO, and Tyler Lovell of Litchfield; and many more stepgrandchildren.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; stepson, Stephen Heeren; sons, Mark and Scott Lovell; daughters, Stephanie Lovell and Denise Green-Lovell; grandson Daniel Green; brothers, Bob, Frank, Dean and Don Lovell; and sisters, Iris Dix, Margaret Frenz, Millie Strunk, Lou Sunderland, Grace Wilton, Jessie Vidakovich and Ann Wiltshire.
