Johnson's Double-Double Pushes Skins Past Pawnee

Jake Johnson scored all 13 of his points in the second half and hauled in a team-best 12 rebounds for Nokomis on Friday, Feb. 26, as the Redskins pulled away from Pawnee with a 44-30 victory.

Johnson was shut out in the first half as Pawnee hung in there with the Redskins. Thanks to four points off the bench from Ryan Eisenbarth, Nokomis clung to a 9-6 lead after one, but they weren’t able to add to that margin as the Indians matched them point for point and made it a 16-13 game at halftime.

Nokomis would begin to pull away in the second half as two of their leaders, Jake Johnson and Seth Johnson found their touch. After not scoring in the first half, both seniors had big third quarters, with Seth Johnson scoring six and Jake Johnson adding five to help the Redskins to a 36-25 advantage.

Jake Johnson would be the only Nokomis player to score in the fourth quarter, but his eight points outscored Pawnee by three as the Redskins improved to 6-4 on the season.

Johnson’s 13 points was two behind Cody Ellis, who led all scorers with 15 points for Pawnee. Connor Hennemann would add in ten for the Indians, but Pawnee only had two other players score and yielded just five more points.

On the other side of the scorebook, seven players scored for Nokomis, with Ryan Eisenbarth and Ben Clavin backing Johnson with nine and eight respectively. Clavin would have two threes for six of his eight points.

Seth Johnson finished the night with six points and a team-best seven assists, followed by Nolan Himes with four and Kendall Knodle and Reece Lohman with two points each.
