Nine local riders were among the 296 to race at the Sand Goblin Enduro in Lake Village, IN on Sunday, April 18, which was sponsored by the Grand Kankakee Trail Riders.
Collin Johnson of Gillespie was first in the Open B class at the AMA District 17 sanctioned event, running a time of 1:44:23.546 to take the top spot and finish 35th overall.
Morrisonville High School senior Jhadyn Walker would compete in the AA class and ran 22nd overall and 13th in his class, clocking in at 1:42:29.857. Carlinville racer Rylan Frankford would finish just a minute behind Walker, taking 30th overall and 16th in AA with a time of 1:43:35.862.
Walker’s father Jeremy would run take eighth in the 40+A class, running a time of 1:45:52.477, which was good enough for 45th overall, while Johnson’s dad, Darold, ran 7th in the 40+B class, clocking in at 2:01:08.732 to finish 119th overall.
Other area riders included Derek Thomas of Edinburg (ninth in 30+A and 47th overall, 1:46:15.649); Camden Thomas of Edinburg (fourth in Open B and 71st overall, 1:50:16.467); Lake Plowman of Waverly (17th in AA and 48th overall, 1:46:42.975) and Reece Franford of Carlinville (seventh in 200B and 217th overall, 2:31:58.058).
