John G. Beeson, 72, of Witt, died on Friday, May 27, 2022, at 11:05 a.m. with his family by his side.
Visitation will be held Friday, June 3, from 9 to 11 a.m. at Witt Christian Church. Funeral services will follow, beginning at 11 a.m. at the church with Pastor Bill Cox officiating. Burial will be held at Glendale Cemetery in Fillmore with full military honors. Stiehl-Dawson Funeral Home in Nokomis is assisting the family.
Mr. Beeson was born Dec. 18, 1949, in Vandalia, to Doyle and Barbara (Patterson) Beeson. He married Salley Standefer on June 20, 1990, in Hillsboro, and she survives.
He graduated from Nokomis High School with the class of 1968. He went on to serve his country in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Beeson retired from Graham Correctional Center in Hillsboro.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his children, Amanda Joyce of Springfield, Matthew (Amber) Beeson of Glen Carbon and Amy (Josh) Tucker of Jacksonville; grandchildren, Alexandria, Autumn, Joshua, Jack and Faye; and siblings, Shirley (Jerrell) Whitten of Ramsey, Debbie Wygal of Hillsboro, Nate (Libby) Beeson of Greenup, Victor (Lori) Beeson of Camargo and Vince (Deb) Beeson of Tuscola.
