JoAnn Grace Hampton, 81, of Hillsboro, died on Thursday, July 16, 2020, at 6:38 a.m., at Hillsboro Rehab and Health Care Center in Hillsboro.
Visitation will be held from 5 to 6 p.m. on Thursday, July 23, at Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro. Memorial services will follow at 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Cremation rites were accorded. Grievers are asked to wear masks and practice social distancing in accordance with the CDC’s COVID-19 guidelines. Bass Patton Dean Funeral Home in Hillsboro is assisting the family with arrangements.
Ms. Hampton was born on May 13, 1939, in Sorento, to Theodore C. and Martha (Durbin) Halleman. She married Joe Hampton, they later divorced. Ms. Hampton lived in Hillsboro for most of life and graduated from Hillsboro High School.
She loved to cook, and was employed as a cook at many restaurants in the area. In her spare time, Ms. Hampton enjoyed doing needlepoint and word searches.
Ms. Hampton is survived by her son, Lance Hampton of Greenville; grandchildren, Trishia Hampton, Tyler Hampton and Tristine Hampton; three great-grandchildren; and siblings, Larry Dale Halleman of Witt and Helen Halleman Cook of FL.
She was preceded in death by her parents; one child, Ricky Halleman; three brothers; and one sister.
